how old is too old to dj?

how old is too old to dj?

Great Question from last weeks Xmas party.

Their is really no black and white answer, however the same could be said for many other industries, lets see...if you take you car to the mechanics and younger person serves you and plans on repairing your car, does this mean inexperience, or if you went to the dentist and a young person was going to fill your tooth ? is it biest to expect a certain age gender fits the role, based on age and relying on age to fulfill the role of experience?

At Canberra DJ Hire, we also try to match the DJ with the event scope, so a younger DJ will be allocated a 18th or 21st bday, and a older DJ may be allocated a 50th or 60th Bday...howeverlet also keep in mind, that our young DJ knows his Elvis, Beatles and Rock genre.. as does a older DJ know his EDM, Jump up and Hip hop, because a Canberra DJ Hire DJ is Versatile and flexible, so whatever age the DJ is, as well as he know the genre of muisc, is open to music requests,
and may even play requests we have not heard of, then that DJ can fulfill the music scope regardless of age.

The world is full of young artists and older computer technicians and everyone in business should be adapting.

If you ve hired a DJ that is stuck on their 80's.90's or other playlist without considering your requests, then that DJ's career may of expired and one track that worked 6 months ago for one party, may not work at another party.

International Music

Having several Djs that work for us whom have a European background is great for our clients wanting to mix up some tradition music at their event.

One of the most important things to consider is that our DJ won t play political or break up songs, songs about war or such, because the simply understand the language and are able to match the theme and tempo to the event.

However its not only the European music that we can cater for. We ve had dozens of clients provide music to play at their event from African, Asia and Mexico to name a few.

The Most Popular being Canberra Macedonia DJ , Greek, Serbian and Italian.

In some cases we supplied Cassette decks and turntables and clients have brought along their own records.

Reading The Crowd Is Just Lip Service

We are sure you have heard the expression “read the crowd” before. Most DJs will toss that phrase out when explaining what they do and how they do it. At Canberra Mobile DJ hire we know that reading the crowd is all fine and good, but if you don’t DO anything with the information it gives you, then it’s pointless! It is like cramming for a test, but then forgetting everything the first time you’re faced with a real-life situation. We have been to countless events, as DJs and as part of the crowd, so we know a thing or two about reading the crowd. More importantly, we know what to DO when the reading is done!
Reading the crowd is an important aspect of DJing, not to be overlooked. You have to actually SEE what people are doing, not what you think they are doing, or expected them to do, or wish they would do. For example, are they actually dancing? How much of the crowd is dancing and how many are sitting down? How long have they been sitting? Do they get up or sit down every time a certain kind of music is played? There are finer details too, like are people smiling? Do they cheer or look exasperated when new songs begin? Are they getting more or less enthusiastic in their dance moves? Once a DJ has collected this important information, they then need to actually use it! If funk songs are making everyone but a few die-hards leave the floor for a fresh cocktail, change course! If people cheer every time you play a cheesy 80’s song, keep them coming! Using these details to direct your music choices is the touchstone of an outstanding DJ.
At Canberra Mobile DJ hire, we have a whole crew of outstanding DJs that can not only read crowds, but can also use that knowledge to do great things–like keep your guests happy and grooving all night long!

Planning Your Event — What Should You Do First?

Once you decide you’re hosting an event, it’s time to get busy planning! Deciding on all the details of your event is plenty of fun, but it can also be overwhelming. Since we have been involved in plenty of amazing events, we want to share some tips for getting started that should help all your decisions fall into place.

As soon as you know you’re having an event, it is important to pick your date and reserve your venue as soon as possible. If your event date is far off in the future, it can be tempting to think you don’t need to get do this right away, but that isn’t the case! Many venues book out over a year in advance, especially during their peak season or on coveted weekend dates. If your event is right around the corner, it is crucial to find out what venues still have openings and get your’s booked right away.

Before you do any research on venues, you will need to have at least a rough estimate of your guest count. Many venues only hold a limited number of people, so before locking in a location, figure out how many people are on your “must invite” list, in order to avoid having to turn away any important guests on the big day!

Another thing you will need to decide before picking your venue is what is more important to you–where or when? If you have always known you were going to get married at a specific church or you want to host a networking event a specific hotel, then you may need to be flexible with your date.

How are CDs made?

How are CDs made

But first Did you know...

The first commercial CD album was released in Japan, in October 1982. It was Billy Joel with "52nd Street"

In 1985 the first CD single was manufactured, Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms" was released for promotional purposes in Germany to commemorate the band's 1985 European tour

CD-ROM stands for Compact Disc - Read-Only Memory. CD-R is Compact Disc-Recordable. CD-RW is Compact Disc Read/Write or ReWritable.

Originally designed to hold 60 minutes of music, CDs were later redesigned to hold 74 minutes in order to accommodate the entire "9th Symphony" by Beethoven.

In proportion to the enormous quantities of CDs which are manufactured, faulty ones are extremely rare -- far far fewer than was the case with long-playing vinyl discs.

2013 in Review

As 2013 comes to an end, corks will be popped, wishes will be made and parties will be thrown around Canberra, many of them which we have been a part of.

Many of you may not know that we have only being up and running in Canberra for several months. We had no idea that we would make such an impact in Canberra in a short amount of time and be part of so many fun and exciting Events.

Highlights of our year include donating a little over $4560 to various charities, the main ones being Cure Cancer Australia and others included Bowel Cancer Australia and The Fire Foundation we can only hope our contributions have supported your causes.

Our client list grew and continually grew quickly with the professionalism our DJ s displayed and quality service we had provided. Bunnings Warehouse , West PacI-MedDepartment of Environment  ,David Jones and Geoscience Australia through some big parties that we were very proud to be a part of.

Working for the Government has obviously been a absolute Joy, Dee Jaying many year 12 Formals and twice as many year 6 Dinners for Canberra Schools was a great feeling. Playing music to students and teachers in celebration of their future and watching them party into the night as they close one chapter of life and seek another a midst a feeling of the melody of their favorite song was a great feeling to witness .

We would also like to recognize our New DJs that jumped onboard and that have done a fantastic job and helped out making Canberran's dance to their favorite music's whilst having a fun time themselves. Top work all round.

All in all this year we are pleased to have had tens of thousands of people dancing, hundreds of newly weds bridal waltzing, Kids running around and screaming and many Xmas staff smiling.

Have a wonderful Xmas Canberra and we ll see you at a celebration soon
